Children growing up in poverty begin life with acute disadvantage and face uncertain futures. Our Child sponsorship connects two people — a sponsor with a generous heart and a child living in poverty. The monthly and yearly support of sponsors to their sponsored child provide life-changing interventions, such as access to medical care, educational support, life skills and job training before graduation. When a child is sponsored, the sponsors not only help the child in need but also transform the lives of children in the community where the child lives. Sponsorship also helps poor and vulnerable communities to build a more enabling context for their children to be protected and cared for. India is home to the largest number of children and adolescents and they have a significant contribution in determining the developmental trajectory in India. However, adolescents and youths in villages are forced to live in filthy environments without proper basic services such as quality schools and health centres with adequate healthcare facilities, skills, and employment opportunities. They are also prone to crime, violence and exploitations. We are focused on the implementation of key child protection legislation and the promotion of practices that protect children from violence, abuse and exploitation. Prevention is central to our strategy and our programming as it is the most effective way to deal with child sexual abuse and exploitation. We work with the government on a range of support services that provide healing to victims/survivors and their families including a focus on counselling, support for school continuation and social protection. Our sponsorship for adolescent enables our sponsors to support an adolescent and youth, giving them the chance to grow up healthy, educated and safe – forever changing their lives and future. Sponsorship for adolescents and youths makes it possible for the dreams of talented youth and adolescents to come true. They can pursue their desire for education at a technical college, vocational school or university. Our support leads to youth exploring their talent and thus contributing to social development. Our sponsorship program allows individuals to sponsor disadvantaged children, youths and adolescents and flourish in terms of their immediate medical attention, having a safe home, access to safe drinking water, nutritious meals, and quality education.
