Building a strong foundation for early learners through Activity Based Learning (ABL)

South Orissa Voluntary Action (SOVA) has created the ’11 Steps to School Readiness’ tool to enhance the ‘Nua Arunima’ program at anganwadi centers. This tool, designed to support preschool education, provides Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) with a clear, pictorial guide that breaks down activities into manageable, step-by-step sessions. Each step is visually represented, making it easier for AWWs to follow and implement the activities systematically.
The visual nature of the tool helps AWWs conduct sessions more effectively, keeping children engaged and focused throughout the preschool program. This structured approach simplifies the process for AWWs, enabling them to execute each step with confidence. As a result, the tool has played a crucial role in achieving the goals of the Nua Arunima initiative, ensuring that preschoolers receive high-quality early learning experiences. The success of this approach underscores the value of combining visual aids with structured learning for better outcomes in early childhood education
